Assessment
Completed:
The Rainbow Project, Phase II
Principal Investigators: R.J. Sternberg and E.L. Grigorenko
Project Coordinator: Linda Jarvin
Project Director: Jonna Kwiatkowski
Description: The SAT is a good predictor of college success, but
no single measure, however strong it may be, is a perfect
predictor. Is it possible to devise assessments that supplement
the SAT and increase prediction of academic and personal success
in a college environment? In this project, we will be examining
measures of successful intelligence devised by a team at the
PACE Center that are appropriate for advanced high school and
beginning college students. In particular, we are interested in
whether our measurements of creative and practical abilities
provide incremental validity above and beyond the validity of
the SAT in predicting college success. The study will involve
seven colleges of varying kinds in varying parts of the United
States, providing a diverse sample for testing the usefulness of
measures of successful intelligence in predicting college
success.
