Giftedness Completed:
A Theory-Based Approach to Giftedness
Principal Investigators: R.J. Sternberg and E.L.
Grigorenko
Project Coordinators: Michael Ferrari, Bruce Torff,
Jennifer Hedlund, and Linda Jarvin
Description: This project seeks to apply the triarchic
theory to the classroom. Our past studies have revealed that
students perform better in school when they are given
instruction that is at least a partial match to their triarchic
pattern of abilities, and that triarchically taught students
outperform students taught for memory or critical thinking, both
on performance assessments and even on conventional memory-based
assessments. This research is conducted with the National
Research Center on the Gifted and Talented.
Funding Agency: U.S. Office of Educational Research and
Improvement
IRB Approval by: Yale University Faculty of Arts and
Science Committee on Research Involving Human Subjects
