Research Projects: Leadership

Completed: Command Performance, Phase II: New Technology for Assessing Direct Leadership Abilities

Principal Investigators: Lynn Streeter & R. J. Sternberg
Project Directors: Cynthia Matthew

Description: This project is the second phase of research devoted to identifying the personal characteristics that predict military leadership success at different phases of Army officers' careers. In addition, this research explores the assessment of such personal characteristics as tacit knowledge, coping with novelty, and wisdom using web-based on-line discussion environments. We will follow up with graduates from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point (Class of 1998) as they go through command training. Graduates will participate in our on-line assessments and discussions, and prior data collected on these individuals will be used to predict performance on the current measures.
